Crazy Train

3-8 Players - Mexican Train on Hekdek!

You will need the Base HekDek along with the Border and Suit Wilds. At the start of the game, shuffle the wild cards. This will represent the station deck. This game is played in 8 rounds where each starts with a different station card faceup. At the beginning of each round, shuffle the deck, deal 13 cards to each player, and reveal the top card of the station deck. Play starts to the left of the dealer. The first player rotates each round. Each player is building a track that must connect to the station.

In order to open your track, you must play a card that matches the attribute of the station card. Place that card next to the station and point it toward you. There is an additional track called the “Crazy Train” that anyone can open or play on. You may only open the Crazy Train if your own track is already open. On your turn, play 1 card by matching an attribute with the card on the end of any valid track (this includes your own track, the Crazy Train, and any tracks with down trains). If you cannot play a card, draw. You may use this card to play immediately if there is a valid track to play on. Otherwise, your turn ends and your train is down.

A train that is down is valid for anyone to play on. Represent a down train by turning the card closest to the station deck on that track sideways. If your train is down and you have played a card this turn, you may choose to put your train up or leave it down.

If a card you play matches 2 attributes, you must play again on the same track. If you cannot play, follow the normal rules for drawing/putting your train down. If you were unable to play, the double is unsatisfied. If there is an unsatisfied double in play on your turn, you must play on that track (it is the only valid track to play on).

End the round when any player has run out of cards. Any left over cards in a player’s hand are added up numerically to compute their round score. The out player scores 0. Proceed to the next round until all 8 rounds have been played. The player with the lowest total score at the end of the game wins
