Hokey Pokey

3+ Players - Watch, Roll, Grab, Survive!

Hold onto your cards tightly as you roll the dice in this last-man standing game

Remove Border Wilds and Rule Cards. Shuffle the deck.

Depending on the number of players, you will have to deal out a different number of cards total. Deal out at least 24 total cards so that each player has the same number of cards in their hand

3-4 players: 24 (8 or 6 cards each), 5 players: 25(5 cards each), etc.

Place two cards from the top of the deck face-up, these are the target cards.

Place a safe object in the center of the table, ensuring that it is reachable for everyone and does not obscure the view of the dice. This is the totem.

Be the last player with any cards in your hand to win the game.

On each turn, the player rolls the dice. For each suit rolled, the player must discard one of the corresponding suit to the center. If you do not have a card for that suit, do not discard it. For each HekDek or Blank rolled, choose any card and pass it to the left or right, respectively. If you rolled a HekDek or Blank with a suit, make sure you play the suit to the center first before passing one of your cards to another player.

If you rolled both target card’s suits exactly matching, double HekDek or double Blank, you enter a Hokey Pokey. The first person to grab the totem first gets all of the cards from the center. If you rolled the target card match, replace both targets with cards from the top of the deck. Whenever you have a Hokey Pokey, the current player does not need to discard or pass any cards. Play proceeds clockwise.

If a player loses all of their cards, they are not out of the game. They can get cards passed to them from their left or right players OR they can touch the totem during a Hokey Pokey. Their turn is skipped while their hands are empty.

If a player has touched the totem during a Hokey Pokey 3 times in a game, they immediately win the game. If a player touches the totem on an incorrect die roll, they must discard a card. If they have no cards, they lose 1 of their counted touches. If a player with 0 counted touches and no cards in hand incorrectly touches the totem, they are disqualified for the remainder of the game.

You may play a variant of the game where you do not count totem touches, and the game continues forever until only one player has cards.
